In Madrid, Spain, Lucia and Xiang are two nine-year-old Chinese girls who meet at school at the start of a new year. To the people around them, their shared background seems like an obvious reason for them to become friends. But as the course begins, it becomes clear that being the same age and of Chinese origin does not mean they have anything else in common.
