After his troubled stepson dies in a suspicious accident, a hard-drinking blue-collar man scrambles to keep the truth buried. As he tries to smooth over the death and move on, a persistent local newspaper columnist begins to suspect the story does not add up, while the young man’s grieving mother pushes for answers that make the cover-up harder to contain.
