Stargirl Caraway leaves Mica behind when her mother is hired as the costume designer on a movie, prompting them to relocate to Los Angeles. In the larger world of L.A., Stargirl finds herself surrounded by music, dreams, and new possibilities, and she quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of people who open the door to a different kind of life.
