Inspired by a true crime, the film follows Brad, a seemingly nice young man whose life is overtaken by mystifying events and a growing darkness. After he kills his mother with a sword and barricades himself inside his house, police turn to his friends and neighbors for answers, piecing together the strange story of how he reached such a violent breaking point.
