Arizona surfer Rick Kane learns the sport in local wave tanks, then uses his winnings from a recent contest to fly to Hawaii and test himself on real ocean breaks. Hoping to make a living as a professional wave rider, he arrives on a small but powerful stretch of coastline where the waves demand more than confidence. There, a woman helps him learn what it takes to survive, as Rick faces a challenge unlike any he has known.
