Seventeen-year-old Jim is a small-town boxing hero training for his first professional fight, with the hopes of his father, Stan, weighing heavily on him. But when he becomes involved with Whetu, a gay Maori boy who spends his days in an old shack by the beach, Jim begins to question the path set out for him, confront his sexuality, and consider what future he wants to choose for himself.
