After 20 years away, ex-con Spitteri returns to Australia and is promptly locked up in an immigration detention centre. With old enemies closing in and a target on his back, he tries to stay one step ahead while finding unlikely allies among his fellow detainees. Through a string of comedic misadventures, he shares his own idea of mateship and what it means to be truly Australian.
