The Southerner

Sam Tucker, a poor cotton picker, wants a better life for his family and decides to stop working as a hired hand and try farming land of his own. As the Tuckers struggle to raise their first cotton crop, they face the harsh realities of starting over with little money or security. Disease, flooding, and a jealous neighbor all threaten their chance to make a living from the ground they hope to call their own.
