Woodland

Inspired by Doris Knecht’s 2015 novel Wald and writer-director Elisabeth Scharang’s own experience of witnessing the 2020 Vienna terrorist attack, Woodland turns toward the forest as a place shaped by shock, memory and retreat. The film follows that impulse into an atmospheric story about trauma and the need for distance after an act of violence.
