Zama

Don Diego de Zama, an officer of the Spanish crown stationed in Asuncion, waits for a long-promised transfer to Buenos Aires and the status he believes it will bring. Isolated in a remote South American colony, he endures minor humiliations, bureaucratic delays and petty political games while his frustration gives way to growing lust, suspicion and paranoia.
