In 1969 East London, the midwives of Nonnatus House continue their work in Poplar as maternity care changes across the country. With more babies being born in hospital than ever before, pressure on maternity beds is high, but Poplar manages better than many communities thanks to the Sisters, the midwives, and the continued popularity of home births.
