Detective Charlie Hudson works alongside Rex, a highly trained German Shepherd police dog, as they investigate crimes together. Charlie prefers Rex as a partner not only for his sharp law enforcement skills, but also because the loyal K9 does not talk his ear off, making them an unusual but effective team on the case.
